Governor of Mangystau Region Nurdaulet Kilybay visited the ERSAI Industrial and Logistics Hub in Kuryk to review the construction progress of a modern container terminal.

The terminal, with a designed capacity of 120,000 TEU per year, is being built on the hub’s territory by Lancaster Group and Atasu Group. The project covers a total area of 50,000 square metres. Construction is 85% complete, with commissioning scheduled for December of this year.

The terminal is designed to handle containerised and general cargo transported by sea, rail and road. It will be equipped with modern cargo-handling machinery, including shunting locomotives, two 45-tonne rail-mounted gantry cranes, a port tug, reach stackers and forklifts.

The ERSAI Hub features seven berths with a combined length of 1,300 metres, its own water area and an approach channel that ensures safe year-round navigation. Dredging works are also underway as part of the hub’s infrastructure development, enabling the facility to accommodate deeper-draught vessels and expand the range of cargo handled.

The new container terminal will strengthen the potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, connecting China, Kazakhstan, Caspian littoral states, the Caucasus and Europe. Once fully operational, the facility will create 60 new jobs.

During his visit, the Governor highlighted the importance of projects aimed at developing the region’s transport and logistics infrastructure and emphasised the need for timely, high-quality completion of construction.
