HOOK-UP AND COMMISSIONING

Kashagan Field Development Experimental Programme

Kashagan oil field is located in the north Caspian Sea in the Republic of Kazakhstan and is situated approximately 80 km south east of the town of Atyrau. The water depth in the area is approximately 4 m.

The Kashagan Field Development Experimental Programme Project included the production of crude oil and associated gases from the reservoir by a combination of offshore facilities at Block D and A and onshore processing facilities and the pipelines system to transport the crude oil and gases to a new inshore processing plant named Eskene West (40 km east of Atyrau) where the oil and gases are then treated and conditioned.

The offshore facilities system consists of Block D (Drilling Island, Riser Island and Process/Utility Facilities), Block A (Drilling and Riser Island).

Module 1 - Raw Gas Injection

Module 2 - Raw Gas Injection

Module 3 - Flash Gas Compression

Module 4 - Flash Gas Compression

Module 5 - Oil Separation

Module 6 - Gas Dehydration and Glycol Regeneration

Module 8 - Main Power Generation

Module 9 - Emergency Power Generation

Module 10 - Utilities

Module 11 - Living Quarters

Module 12 - Living Quarters

Module 16 - Flash Gas Compression

Module 18 - Oil Separation

Module 20 - Gas Dehydration

MODULE INTEGRATION

Interconnecting pipe-racks, pipe bridges and walkways are to be erected around modules to form an integrated structure.

COMPLEX A

Island A is a satellite well island supporting unmanned production facilities connected to Complex D by means of two 18 inch production multiphase sub-sea trunk lines, one 10 inch test multiphase sub-sea trunk line, umbilical facilities, and power and control cables. Island A consists of:

- Drilling Area; designed for a single rig operation with seven production wells and a production manifold

- Riser Area equipped with skid mounted manifold, local equipment room, and pig launcher skids

- Flare System

- Emergency Power Generation system

- Closed Drains system

- Open Drains system.

PIPE RACKS

Pipe Racks interconnect between the Drilling Island, Riser Island and the various and other areas.

COFFERDAMS

Cofferdams interconnect the Drilling Island, the Riser Island and the modules And also form the following areas:

- Process Utilities Area

- Process Support Area Train 1

- Process Support Area Train 2

- Logistics Support Area

COMPLEX D

Complex D is an artificial atoll which supports the offshore field central process facilities providing oil-gas separation and gas treatment and gas re-injection, it is a manned complex with accommodation, heli-deck, temporary refuges and safety & life support systems.

The production and gas injection wells are located on an artificial island (Drilling Island), the risers for pipelines, cables and umbilicals connecting Complex D to the onshore plant and to other offshore facilities are located on the artificial island (Riser Island).
